The Peperomia polybotrya, commonly known as the Raindrop Peperomia, is a charming and compact houseplant loved for its glossy, teardrop-shaped leaves that resemble delicate water droplets. Its vibrant green foliage and clean, sculptural form make it a perfect accent for modern spaces. Native to South America, this easy-care plant combines the beauty of a tropical with the resilience of a semi-succulent, making it ideal for both beginners and collectors.
Key Features:
Size: Grows up to 8–12 inches tall and wide, making it an ideal compact plant for smaller spaces.
Growth: A slow to moderate grower, forming a neat, bushy mound of foliage.
Pet Friendliness:

The plant is pet-friendly! It is non-toxic to cats and dogs.
Care Instructions:
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate medium light but may grow more slowly. Avoid harsh direct sunlight.
Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. As a semi-succulent, it stores water in its leaves and prefers slightly drier conditions. Reduce watering in winter.
Humidity: Adapts well to average household humidity. Extra humidity is not required but will support healthy growth.
Temperature: Thrives in 18°C–26°C. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
Soil: Use a well-draining mix such as standard potting soil amended with perlite or a light succulent mix.
Fertilizer: Feed once a month during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Pause feeding in fall and winter.
Pruning: Remove any yellowing leaves and pinch back stems to maintain a compact, full shape.
Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years or when root-bound. This plant prefers to stay slightly snug in its pot.
