Shipping Policy and Plant Care Guidelines
We offer our customers 3 main ways to obtain their online purchases:
- FREE In-person pickup at our retail store in Edmonton, AB.
- Local delivery provided by our staff within Edmonton, St. Albert, Fort Saskatchewan, and Sherwood Park AB for a flat rate of $10.00.
- Shipping though Canada Post or another parcel delivery service, weather permitting for a flat rate depending on your home Province. In the event of extreme cold winter weather we may need to delay delivery or cancel your order if we believe it could not be delivered without a high risk of damage. We will contact you if this is the case and make suitable arrangements. In order to protect your plant in cooler weather, we may be required to include warming packs with your plants. There is no additional cost for heat packs or shipping insulation.
In-Person Pick Up
Your order is usually processed within 24 hours. We will contact you after your order has been processed to inform you when your order will be available for pick-up. We have flexible hours for in-person pick up and accommodate most days, evenings, and weekends.
Local Delivery within Edmonton, Sherwood Park, & St. Albert
Your order is usually processed within 24 hours. We will contact you after your order has been processed to schedule delivery to your home or work provided it is located within Edmonton, Sherwood Park, or St. Albert. We have flexible delivery hours and can accommodate most days, evenings, or weekends. We CANNOT leave your plants at the door due to the risk of damage from extreme heat or cold. Please ensure that someone is available to receive your order. If we attempt delivery and no one is home we will contact you to make one additional attempt to deliver your items at a mutually agreeable time. A 2nd $10 fee must be charged in order to pay our delivery driver for the second delivery attempt. If we cannot reach you the second time, your order will be refunded but we will retain the delivery fees for our efforts in attempting to make delivery.
Parcel Delivery
Though we offer shipping through a variety of parcel delivery services, please be assured that we will always select the service provider that minimizes the duration of time that your plant is in transit. Shipping is stressful on your plants, be sure to reach the care instructions below for how to care for a freshly shipped plant.
We will reach out to you if the price of shipping exceeds the flat rate that we charge. This may occur if your order is particularly large, or if you have purchased any oversized items we have in stock. Should you decide you do not want to continue with your order in these circumstances we will issue you a full refund for your purchase and the shipping charges.
If you purchase any of our hard goods such as pots, plant care products, or accessories only (no plants), we may be able to offer you cheaper shipping. When we are not required to ship live goods we may be able to use bubble mailers, prepaid shipping boxes, or slower shipping options which are often more affordable options. If we are able to secure more affordable shipping than our flat rate we will contact you and issue you a partial refund of your shipping fees. We want to make your order as affordable as possible and it is never our goal to overcharge on shipping.
Care Guidelines for a Shipped Plant
1. Unbox Carefully
o Open the package immediately upon arrival to inspect the plant.
o Be gentle when removing any packing materials (e.g., paper, plastic, or cushioning) to avoid damaging leaves or roots.
2. Inspect the Plant
o Check for any signs of damage, pests, or mold.
o Trim off any dead or damaged leaves using sanitized scissors or pruning shears.
3. Acclimate Gradually
o Place the plant in a shaded or low-light area for the first 24-48 hours to help it recover from shipping stress.
o Gradually introduce it to its usual light conditions over a few days.
4. Hydrate with Care
o Check the soil moisture. If it feels dry, water the plant lightly to moisten the soil.
o Avoid overwatering, as the plant may already be stressed. Ensure the pot has drainage holes.
5. Do Not Repot Right Away
o Shipping is stressful on your new plant. So is repotting! It's best to allow your plant time to acclimate to it's new environment before repotting it.
o We recommend waiting two weeks before repotting your new plant. Remember to select the appropriate sized pot for the rootball, which will likely be the same sized pot we shipped your plant in.
6. Provide Humidity
o Many plants lose moisture during transit. Increase humidity with a humidifier, misting, or placing the plant near a tray of water and pebbles.
7. Monitor for Stress Signs
o Watch for yellowing leaves, drooping, or other signs of stress. These are common after shipping and should improve as the plant acclimates.
8. Avoid Fertilizing Immediately
o Do not fertilize the plant for at least 2-3 weeks after arrival, as it needs time to recover and adapt to its new environment. If you are unsure, review the care instructions for your plant and follow the instructions on the bottle of your chosen fertilizer.
9. Keep Away from Drafts and Direct Sunlight
o Avoid placing the plant near vents, heaters, or cold drafts.
o Protect it from intense direct sunlight until it has fully recovered.
10. Quarantine New Arrivals
o Keep the plant separate from other houseplants for 7-10 days to monitor for pests or diseases that might have been picked up during shipping.
11. Be Patient
o It’s normal for plants to look a bit wilted or lose a few leaves after shipping. With proper care, most plants will bounce back within a couple of weeks.
