The Monstera Adansonii, also known as the Swiss Cheese Vine, is a fast-growing, vining houseplant loved for its unique, fenestrated leaves full of natural holes. Its tropical beauty and trailing or climbing growth make it a favorite for hanging baskets, trellises, or as a lush tabletop plant.
Key Features:
Size: Vines can grow up to 10 feet long indoors, making it perfect for trailing or climbing displays.
Growth: A fast-growing plant that thrives with proper support, such as a moss pole or trellis.
Pet Friendliness:
The Monstera Adansonii is not pet-friendly. It contains calcium oxalates, which can be toxic to cats, dogs, and other pets if ingested. Keep it out of reach of pets and small children.
Care Instructions:
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light. Too much direct sunlight can scorch its delicate leaves.
Watering: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Ensure proper drainage.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (50% or more). Mist regularly or use a humidifier for best growth.
Temperature: Best kept in temperatures between 18–29°C. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 13°C.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend of peat, perlite, and orchid bark.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce feeding in fall and winter.
Pruning: Trim leggy vines to encourage bushier growth and maintain a fuller shape.
