Hoya ‘Rangsan Splash’ is a beautiful collector Hoya prized for its thick green foliage covered in striking silver splash. Each leaf develops its own unique pattern, ranging from delicate silver flecks to heavier patches of shimmering silver that contrast beautifully against the deeper green background.

With its attractive foliage and vining growth habit, Rangsan Splash looks beautiful trailing from a hanging planter or trained to climb a trellis. Like other Hoyas, mature plants may also reward you with clusters of waxy, star-shaped flowers when conditions are right.

Key Features

Hoya ‘Rangsan Splash’ has a trailing or climbing growth habit and can develop long vines as it matures. It can be allowed to cascade naturally or trained around a trellis or other support for a fuller, more upright display.

Growth is generally moderate under warm conditions with plenty of bright, indirect light.

Pet-Friendliness

Generally considered non-toxic to pets. Safe for cats and dogs, making it a great choice for pet-friendly homes.

Care Instructions

Light: Bright, indirect light is best. A little gentle morning or evening sun can help encourage stronger growth and bring out the characteristic dark leaf margins. Avoid prolonged harsh afternoon sun, which may scorch the foliage.

Watering: Allow most of the growing medium to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, allow excess water to drain completely, and avoid leaving the roots sitting in soggy soil.

Humidity: Average household humidity is generally suitable, although moderate to higher humidity can encourage stronger growth and healthy foliage.

Temperature: Keep warm and protected from cold drafts. An indoor temperature range of approximately 18–29°C is ideal.

Soil: Use a loose, airy, and fast-draining growing medium. A Hoya or epiphytic mix containing orchid bark, perlite or pumice, coco chips, and a small amount of moisture-retentive potting medium works well.

Fertilizer: Feed lightly during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced houseplant or orchid fertilizer. Reduce feeding during periods of slower growth.

Pruning: Trim vines as needed to control the plant's size or encourage branching. Avoid removing established flower spurs (peduncles), as Hoyas can bloom repeatedly from the same points.

Repotting: Repot only when necessary. Hoyas generally prefer being somewhat snug in their containers, so choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one and ensure it has excellent drainage.

Pro Tip: Give this plenty of bright light. A little gentle direct morning sun can intensify the contrast, while a trellis will give the vines something to climb and create a fuller display. And if your plant develops a peduncle after flowering, don't cut it off—it may bloom from that same spot again!
