Hawaiian Spider Plant

The Hawaiian Spider Plant is a cheerful, easy-care houseplant with long arching leaves and soft green-and-cream variegation. Its fresh, grassy look makes it perfect for shelves, plant stands, hanging baskets, or anywhere that needs a little bright, happy foliage.

Size and Growth:

Hawaiian Spider Plants stay fairly compact when young, then grow into a fuller, arching shape over time. Mature plants can send out trailing stems with baby plantlets, making them especially lovely in hanging baskets.

Growth is usually moderate indoors, with faster growth in brighter indirect light during spring and summer.

Pet Friendliness:

The Spider Plant is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Care Instructions:

Light: Bright, indirect light is best. It can tolerate medium light, but stronger indirect light will help maintain healthier growth and better variegation. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Watering: Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot. In winter months, reduce watering frequency.

Humidity: Prefers average household humidity levels. If the air is particularly dry, occasional misting can help maintain leaf health.

Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 16°C–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.

Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a standard houseplant blend.

Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Do not fertilize in fall and winter.

Pruning: Remove any brown tips or dead leaves to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's appearance.

Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is one size larger and ensure it has drainage holes.
