Size

Dieffenbachia ‘Camille’ is a bright, tropical houseplant loved for its large cream-and-green leaves. The soft, variegated foliage makes it a beautiful statement plant while still being easygoing enough for most homes. Its light-coloured leaves can brighten up a room without needing direct sun, making it a great choice for shelves, plant stands, or cozy corners with medium to bright indirect light.

Key Features

Dieffenbachia ‘Camille’ has an upright growth habit and can reach approximately 2–4 feet tall indoors with proper care. It grows at a moderate pace, especially during spring and summer. As it matures, the lower leaves may naturally drop, giving the plant a cane-like look.

Pet Friendliness

Not pet safe.

Care Instructions

LightPrefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate medium light. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the pale leaves.

Watering: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Dieffenbachia likes lightly moist soil but does not like sitting in water. Yellowing leaves can be a sign of overwatering.

Humidity: Enjoys average to higher household humidity. If your home is very dry, occasional misting, a pebble tray, or a nearby humidifier can help keep the leaves looking their best.

Temperature: Keep in a warm spot between 18–27°C. Avoid cold drafts, sudden temperature changes, and placing it too close to exterior doors or vents.

Soil: Use a well-draining tropical houseplant mix. A blend with potting soil, perlite, and bark works well to hold some moisture while still allowing excess water to drain.

FertilizerFeed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce or pause fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows.

Pruning: Remove yellow or damaged leaves as needed. If the plant becomes leggy, it can be cut back to encourage fuller new growth.

RepottingRepot every 1–2 years, or when the plant becomes rootbound. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one to avoid excess moisture around the roots.

Pro Tip: Dieffenbachia ‘Camille’ will keep its creamy variegation best in bright, indirect light. Too little light may cause the leaves to become darker green over time.
