Croton "Petra"

The Croton Petra (Codiaeum variegatum ‘Petra’) is a vibrant, tropical houseplant known for its striking, multicolored leaves in shades of green, red, orange, and yellow. Key Features:

Size: Grows up to 3–4 feet tall indoors, with a spread of 2–3 feet, creating a full, bushy appearance.

Pet Friendliness:

The Croton Petra is not pet-friendly.  It contains compounds that can be toxic to cats, dogs, and other pets if ingested. Keep it out of reach of pets and small children.

Care Instructions:

Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sun, which helps enhance its vibrant colors, but avoid harsh afternoon sun that may scorch the leaves.

Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Crotons prefer consistently moist but not soggy soil. Ensure the pot has proper drainage.

Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (50% or higher). Mist occasionally or place near a humidifier for optimal growth.

Temperature: Ideal temperature range is 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 13°C.

Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a general indoor plant mix with added peat or compost for richness.

Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in fall and winter.

Pruning: Trim leggy stems to encourage a fuller shape and remove any damaged or fading leaves.
