The Alocasia nebula ‘Black Diamond’ is a rare and highly coveted collector’s plant prized for its bold, jewel-like foliage. Its thick, metallic leaves shift in color from deep silvery tones to dramatic dark greens, sometimes appearing nearly black depending on the light. Prominent veins highlight the unique texture, making each leaf look like a living gemstone. Compact yet striking, this Alocasia adds a dramatic touch to any tropical plant collection.

Key Features:

Size:  Compact and slow-growing, ideal for indoor spaces with limited room. Grows more rapidly in warm summer months, but may enter dormancy during winter months.

Growth: Grows up to 12–24 inches tall and wide indoors

Pet-Friendliness

Toxic to pets – Contains calcium oxalate crystals which can be harmful if ingested by cats or dogs. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

Care Instructions

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves. Too little light can reduce vibrancy and slow growth.

Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy. Allow the top 1–2 inches to dry between waterings. Water less often in winter when growth slows.

Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (60%+). Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or mist lightly to mimic its native tropical environment.

Temperature: Maintain warm temperatures between 18°C–27°C. Protect from drafts and avoid letting it drop below 15°C.

Soil: Use a loose, well-draining mix such as an aroid blend containing orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir.

Fertilizer: Feed once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Do not fertilize in fall and winter.

Pruning: Remove any yellow, damaged, or older leaves at the base to encourage new growth and keep the plant looking its best.

Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when root-bound. Choose a pot with proper drainage to prevent root rot.
